Tuesday recitals
The Degollado Theater opens its doors each Tuesday for the free classical music series Martes de Musica y Opera. No tickets are sold nor is there numbered seating. Just turn up before the performance and grab a seat. The quality is always high, and the theater will often fill up.  June 23: Masterworks from Russia, France and Mexico. Featuring Konstantin Ziumbilov on violin and Lorenzo Sanchez on piano. Composers include Shostakovich, Lobato, Ravel and Saint-Saens. June 30: Cliff Jackson is back  to accompany singers interpreting more works from famous operas and Broadway shows. Bernstein, Verdi, Donizetti, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Ponce, Bizet, Massenet, Gounod, Handel, Puccini, among others.

Dance on Wednesdays
Free modern dance shows put on by talented groups on Thursday evenings.

Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra
Summer season kicks off with the fifth installment of the 2015 Tchaikovsky cycle, overseen by orchestra director Marco Parisotto. Alexandre Da Costa returns to perform on violin.

Unity: the Latin Tribute to Michael Jackson
A tribute show whose creator Tony Succar says combines the soul of Michael Jackson with the essence of Latin sound. Featuring Cuban American singer and songwriter Jon Secada.

Taylor Eigsti Trio
U.S.jazz pianist and composer Taylor Eigsti is joined by bassist Harish Raghavan and drummer Eric Harland for the next concert in the excellent Jazz at Lincoln Center series sponsored by the University of Guadalajara. A child prodigy, Eigsti performed with jazz pianist Dave Brubeck for the first time when he was 12. Aged 31, he has recorded seven albums and been nominated for two Grammy Awards.

Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra
In a concert titled “Russian Brillance,” acclaimed Russian pianist Alexei Volodin interprets Prokofiev’s concerts numbers 1 and 3. The concert will close with “Petrouchka” by Igor Stravinski, a work famed for its energy and inventiveness.

Marco Parisotto will conduct “Rhythms of Mexico and the Spain of Albeniz,” featuring Korean Wonny Song on piano. The concert will later be performed at the prestigious Musica Maru festival in Busan, South Korea.
