Brits make a splash at FIL

Diversity was the name of the game as the Brits invaded the Guadalajara International Book Fair (FIL) as guests of honor this week.

U.K. Culture Minister John Whittingdale with one of the young winners of the Shaun the Sheep drawing contest.

Guest chef Alan Coxon with a teapot inspired by the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party in which he served chicken tea at the inaugural lunch.

A “union jacked” stilt woman.

A lecture on the Magna Carta in the British pavilion.

The Doctor Who “Tardis” at the Syfy stand.

Acclaimed British writer and illustrator of children’s books Ed Vere doodling on a boot from British footwear firm Dr. Martens (now with three stores in Mexico, one of them in Guadalajara).

Dancers from the innovative Wayne McGregor troupe, one of the British performers that filled the Foro FIL to capacity each evening of the event. Jolly good show chaps!
