Folk dance Sundays at Teatro Alarife

Aficionados of traditional folk dance will have multiple opportunities to enjoy a broad selection of colorful and emotional dances performed by the  Ballet México Folklórico, directed by Paul Alba, each Sunday in January and February.

The presentations are supported by the Jalisco Culture Secretariat and fall into two parts.  Part one, “Michoacan Historia de un amor,” focuses on the rich variety of dances from Jalisco’s neighboring state, while part two, “Estampas de Mexico,” showcases dances from Oaxaca, Chiapas, Nuevo Leon and, of course, Jalisco.

Thanks to the involvement of state tourism authorities, craftsmen and women from various regions of Jalisco will be displaying their creations in the forecourt of the theater prior to and following each Sunday morning performance.

Teatro Alarife Martin Casillas, Sundays, January 17, 24, and 31, and February 7, 14, 21 and 28, 10 a.m.  180 pesos.
