Lakeside Little Theatre

When the Lakeside Little Theatre discovered they were unable to obtain the rights to produce Yasmina Reza’s “God Of Carnage” in October, the adaptable actors and directors made a quick change to a hilarious comedy of errors, “Bedtime Stories” by the popular Canadian playwright Norm Foster.

Directed by Roseann Wilshere, the play is an interconnected series of vignettes with some crazy and endearing characters. The cast includes Chet Beeswanger, Collette Clavadetscher, James Leonard, Tina Leonard, Judy Long, Kathleen Morris, Douglas Pinkerton, Ed Tasca, Michael Warren and Ken Yakiwchuk.

The show opens on Friday, October 3 and runs through Sunday, October 12. The theater is closed on Monday, October 6.  Box office hours are 10 a.m. to noon on Wednesday and Thursday prior to opening night, the same hours on all show days except Sunday, and one hour before curtain time.  Email This email address is being protected from spambots. ASA

Artist and teacher Maryann Linhart has been drafted by the Ajijic Society of the Arts (ASA) to present a demonstration program at the monthly meeting on Monday, October 6. 10 a.m. The meeting demonstration at Restaurant La Bodega will explore the use of the relatively new substrate Yupo, which artists in a variety of water media are exploring. Yupo is a non-porous, polypropylene material commonly used in advertising and is now being employed by fine artists. Linhart will demonstrate a few of the techniques which are possible with this new material, and using a projector she will also display examples of some of these techniques.

Linhart returned to Mexico when she moved to Ajijic six years ago. She lived in Mexico City for two years when her family was young. While attending the University of Americas, she encountered acrylics for the first time. She immediately gave up painting in oils.

During those years Linhart traveled throughout Mexico, including Ajijic, and is delighted to have returned to the quaint village she remembered and to find an active art community.

She also studied at the Ad-Art Institute of Pittsburgh, and earned a BFA at the Carnegie Institute of Fine Arts. For more than 30 years she has been presenting workshops and classes, as well as participating in workshops presented by Carol Barnes, Carol Katchen, Betty Carr, Steven Quiller, Jean Grastrof and Frank Francese. Linhart is a signature member of the Colorado Watercolor Society and the Southern Colorado Watercolor Society.
