ASA

Using section five of her new book, “The Joy of Art: The Journey,” Ajijic artist and author Janice Kimball will present the program at the Monday, December 1, 10 a.m. meeting of the Ajijic Society of the Arts (ASA) at La Bodega.

The owner of Aztec Art and Weaving Studios on the Carretera in Ajijic, Kimball has supported herself through art for the past 30 years. She urges other artists to “learn to document your work, become your best judge and advocate. Editing is crucial to an artist ... Discover how to edit, frame, and exhibit your work to its best advantage. Celebrate, for being an artist comes from the human side of our nature, a side not all are able to express.”

Kimball has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Columbia College, Chicago, and a Masters in Fine Arts from the University of Illinois. She taught on many college campuses and also is certified to teach art in secondary schools. Her work is in collections at Columbia College, the Henry Ford Library and the Ukrainian Museum of Contemporary Art. Her earlier book was a novel, “Three in a Cage.”
