Naked Stage

The Naked Stage Readers Theater presents “Match,” written by Stephen Belber and directed by Georgette Richmond, on Friday, May 29, Saturday, May 30 and Sunday, May 31. All performances start at 4 p.m.

“Match” is a drama that centers on the character of Tobi, inspired by Alphonse Poulin, a professor of ballet at the Juilliard School. Tobi is an aging dancer, choreographer and teacher who enjoys knitting. His quiet life is interrupted when Mike and Lisa enter his home under the pretense of interviewing him for Lisa’s thesis.

The Broadway production starred Frank Langella as Tobi with Ray Liotta as Mike and Jane Adams as Lisa. The show ran for about two months. For his role, Langella was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Play.

Belber adapted the play into the 2014 film “Match,” which he also directed.

Naked Stage productions take place at Rio Bravo 10-A in Ajijic.  Donations are 80 pesos each. Reservations can be made via email to This email address is being protected from spambots.
