US youth tour group seeking host families

Up with People (Viva la Gente) is looking for families willing to host one or more students when the troupe visits Guadalajara from October 6-13.  The 100-member cast comprises students between the ages of 17 and 29, representing 15 countries.

While in Guadalajara, all 100 Viva la Gente students will spend time participating in service projects and also perform in the high-energy show, “Voices,” on Thursday. October 9 at the Teatro Galerias in Zapopan.

Tickets will be on sale next week at the theater, CROC Jalisco offices and at the Instituto de Mujeres in Tlaquepaque. Proceeds from  the show will be donated to the Red Cross (Cruz Roja) and Mayama.

Founded in the 1960s, Up with People is a U.S. education organization whose stated mission is to bridge cultural barriers and create global understanding through service and a musical show. Their headquarters is in Denver, Colorado, with satellite offices in Belgium and Mexico.
