UdG Ballet subdirector passes   

The subdirector of the Universidad de Guadalajara folk dance troupe, Fernando Delgaldillo, has died at the age of 59 following a heart attack.

Born in Mascota in 1977, he was appointed in 1980 and kept the position until a first heart attack in 2012 reduced his workload. Delgaldillo was known as a talented choreographer and created several unique routines, including “El Caiman,” based on a huapango tune from Tamaulipas.

American Society board elected

The American Society of Jalisco (Amsoc) has elected its officers for 2016. They are: Ann Whiting, president; John Griffin, first vice president; Sergio Garcia Gil, honorary second vice president (unelected); Regis Soileau, second vice president (unelected); Bruce Newby, treasurer; Karen Ashby, secretary. The board of directors comprises Cam Esser, Cliff Esser, Fred Hanna,Klyf Harrison, Frank Rodriguez and David Ruiz.

During the December board meeting it was decided that Amsoc will not hold a Super Bowl Party, Oscar Night Party or Christmas Posada in 2016.

The board voted to give 5,000 pesos to the Salvation Army home in Tlaquepaque. The sum was delivered by Cam Esser on December 15.
