TlaquepArte, the biannual exhibition of handicrafts, gifts and decorations, keeps getting better and better. Having moved from its traditional Tlaquepaque location, visitors to this year’s fair are benefitting from the increased space now available at Expo Guadalajara.
The event, which runs this weekend, and also though Monday, May 18, offers great opportunities for gift-buying, with a diverse range of items from Mexico and across Latin America. Sellers hawk jewelry, ceramics, lacquered boxes, Mexican silver, mirrors, furniture, belts, wallets, women’s clothing, hammocks, bags, masks, photo frames, religious items and much more. A major plus of TlaquepArte is that shoppers are able to browse, ask questions and buy directly at cost from any of the 250 artisans at the event. Held twice a year, the fair is popular among retailers and visitors alike. Wholesalers are especially attracted to the four-day event, while even the most frugal of spenders can pick up delightful gifts for less than 50 pesos.
Open May 15-18 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily at Expo Guadalajara (Mariano Otero and Las Rosas, four blocks from Plaza del Sol).
