Lakeside knitters join like-minded others in public event

Representatives of the Lake Chapala Needlepushers group say they had a “wonderful time” at the Worldwide Knit in Public Day event held last weekend at the Museo de la Ciudad in Guadalajara.

The ten knitters joined 13 other groups all knitting for one cause or another.

Needlepushers have been knitting, crocheting and sewing for needy children in the lakeside area for over half a century.

“There was a great deal of curiosity about the gringas knitting in the corner,” said Kay Headley.  “We enjoyed sharing what we do for niños necesitados along Lake Chapala and handing out our brochures.

“The people at the Museo were very gracious, providing beverages, snacks and lunch for the attendees.”

Needlepushers taking part were: Marilyn Primm, Margaret Presutti, Joan Copple, Carmen Hasse, Wendy Hamblin, Cyndi Bosch, Kay Headley, Susan Miller, Paula Young and Julie Hensley.

Headley said all who those who attended would definitely participate again next year if the museum decided to host another event.

She also thanked the group’s driver, Librado Zaragoza Basulto, whom she said “made our trip into Guadalajara a pleasure.”
