Lake Chapala Society maple tree thrives

Just in time for the the celebration of Canada’s 148th birthday, summer rains have helped sprout new foliage on the little maple tree planted near the main entrance to the grounds of the Lake Chapala Society.

The bare and anemic-looking sapling was planted last January by former ambassador Sara Hradecky on her final visit to lakeside as Canadian envoy to Mexico. It is now thriving as a symbol of friendly ties between the two nations.
