New Hope Christian
The congregation of the non-denominational New Hope Christian Fellowship will meet at its regular time and place on Sunday, March 6. The refreshment period will begin at 10:45 a.m. and be followed by the worship service at 11 a.m. This week pastor Gene Raymer will be leading the congregation in an examination of the third chapter of Titus. “Apparently some in the church at Crete were using the church for their own personal gain.” says the pastor. “Paul instructs Titus to rebuke these divisive persons and instruct the true believers to ‘do what is good.’”
The fellowship will continue after the service with a meal at a local restaurant. This will give the congregation a chance to further discuss the day’s message.
New Hope Christian Fellowship meets in the upper room of the Presbyterian Church. To get there, turn toward the lake at Mom’s Restaurant in Riberas just west of the Mascaras Clinic. Little Chapel

Join the group Wednesday, March 9, 5:30 p.m. for the screening of the movie “Woodlawn.” The plot, based on a true story from Birmingham, Alabama in 1973, has a gifted high school football player who must learn to embrace his talent and his faith as he battles racial tensions on and off the field.
San Andres English
“The Lord Who Welcomes Sinners” is the homily Fr. Basil G. Royston, D. Min. will give on March 6, the fourth Sunday of Lent.
“We celebrate this Mass with the joy of forgiveness, and gratefully eat the manna, the food that our Father gives us for the journey to the kingdom where his banquet is prepared for us.”
San Andres holds its “First Sunday of the Month Food Drive” to support the children at Villa Infantil orphanage and the sisters who care for them. Consider bringing a non-perishable food item, toilet tissue or cleaning product to Sunday’s Liturgy.

St. Andrew’s Anglican
One of the most familiar and loved of Jesus’ parables, the Prodigal Son, is the focus of worship at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church on Sunday, March 6. The parable is also the basis for Fr. Winston Welty’s sermon, “Lost and Found Joy,” which provocatively suggests that for some religious people, joy can actually be a stumbling block to faith. Worship begins at 10 a.m.; the children’s bilingual Sunday School is at 9:45; and “Coffee Hour” in the Garden follows the worship service.
Every Sunday, the feeding program supported by St. Andrew’s welcomes donations of non-perishable food items, left in baskets by the Church doors.
On Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. in the Church kitchen, the monthly “Company of Gentlemen” breakfast welcomes into fellowship the men of the parish and the community. Also on Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. in the Church’s multipurpose room, the fourth session of this year’s Lenten Bible Study will study the Four Exodus Heroines, part of a series “Muted Voices: Old Testament Women.”
Next Friday’s fund-raiser Ham Dinner will also include scalloped potatoes, prize-winning carrots and a chocolate dessert to die for — all for only 200 pesos. Social Hour begins at 4 p.m. with meal time at 5 p.m. Tickets are available at the Church this Sunday.

Christ Church Episcopal
Christ Church Episcopal will observe the Fourth Sunday in Lent, Laetare (Rejoice!) Sunday, March 6, 9:30 a.m.by celebrating the Holy Communion from the Presanctified Elements at in the Little Chapel by the Lake on the Carretera in Chula Vista.
Christ Church Warden Jim Powers will preside, and the Rt. Rev. Sandy Olson will give a message with the theme “The Father and Two Sons” based on Luke 15:1-3, 11-32.
The congregations of Christ Church and the Little Chapel share a coffee fellowship between their two services from about 10:35 a.m. until 11:10 a.m. The Tuesday, 2 p.m. Bible Study at the Little Chapel Fellowship Hall sponsored by Christ Church has begun the study of the Book of Genesis. Each session lasts an hour.
Lake Chapala Baptist
“Someone missed their nap,” says Brother Bob Hendrick. “We used to say that about cranky children. We now say it about friends our age when they are out of sorts. The writer of the New Testament letter to the Hebrews tells his readers to be careful to not miss the rest God has for them. The rest God offers in Christ is to save us from the frustration of living life solely by our own strength and our own efforts. And the ultimate frustration is that if we live our earthly life without resting by faith in Jesus, we will live in eternity experiencing God’s wrath rather than His peace. There is a rest we dare not miss.”

Unitarians
On Sunday, March 6, the Lake Chapala Unitarian Universalist Fellowship celebrates its 10th anniversary. The anniversary presentation is by Trudy Crippen, one of the founders of the fellowship, and is entitled “I Am What I Am — Don’t Kid Yourself.” The service concludes with a special celebratory cake.
This 10th anniversary service is held in the Unitarians’ new home in Riberas. It’s at Hidalgo 261, on the north side of the Carretera.
St. Mark’s Anglican, Guadalajara
St. Mark’s Anglican/Episcopal church in Guadalajara is in Lent, a period of self-reflection. The title of Dr. Jim Priddy’s sermon this fourth Sunday in Lent will be “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner.” The readings — from Joshua 5, Psalms 32, 2 Corinthians and Luke 15 — focus on the rolling away of disgrace, so well expressed in Luke’s famous parable of the Prodigal Son.
