Sunday, April 17, Sue Kelley gives the presentation “Confronting Conflict: Can We Affirm Our First Principle in Today’s World?” at the Lake Chapala Unitarian Universalist Fellowship.
Kelly will discuss confronting evil in today’s hostile climate. Carol Johnson is the service leader.
The Unitarians have moved. They now meet 10:30 a.m. at their new facility at Hidalgo 261, opposite the bell tower, on the north side of the Carretera in Riberas del Pilar.
New Hope Christian
The non-denominational congregation of the New Hope Christian Fellowship will add one item to its regular worship service on Sunday, April 17. There will be a brief business meeting prior to the start of the 11 a.m. worship service. During the service, Pastor Gene Raymer will deliver a message on Thomas and the doubts he expressed at the news of Jesus’ resurrection. “The critical elements of the account don’t involve Thomas’ pessimism, but rather the reaction of the disciples and Jesus Himself as well as Thomas’ declaration ‘My Lord and my God.’”

Lake Chapala Baptist
Says Brother Bob Hendrick: “Red took me fishing on the Trinity River when the white bass were running. We used spec-rigs, two spinner and two hooks. It was not unusual to catch two fish on one cast. At our first fishing spot Red said, ‘Brother Bob, tie that anchor on the rope and chunk it out.’ So, I took the anchor and the rope and gave it two wraps and a wrinkle and a tuck and cast it over board. The stainless steel mud anchor sunk down into the depths of the Trinity … and the rope came floating back to the surface. That was a good anchor … but a bad connection. The writer to the Hebrews says that Jesus is the ‘anchor of the soul’ to keep the believer from drifting. And faith is a good knot on Jesus, our anchor.”

St. Andrew’s Anglican
The second of four pastoral care seminars at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church is Saturday, April 16, 10:30 am. Lawyer Spencer McMullen will talk about the laws we need to be aware of to live in Mexico. At next Saturday’s seminar, Dr. Ken Jones Jones will discuss health issues and the IMSS system. All are welcome
Most people don’t think of themselves as sheep; it’s not a complimentary comparison. But on this Good Shepherd Sunday, April 17, Fr. Winston Welty’s sermon, “Members of the Flock,” suggests that such a comparison can actually change our usual self-image for the better, and teach us something new about ourselves. Worship begins at 10 a.m., followed by “Coffee Hour” in the Garden.
Every Sunday, the feeding programs supported by St. Andrew’s welcome donations of non-perishable items, left in the baskets by the Church doors.

Christ Church Episcopal
Christ Church Episcopal will observe the Fourth Sunday of Easter, “Good Shepherd Sunday,” by celebrating Holy Communion Sunday, April 17, 9:30 a.m., at the Little Chapel by the Lake, located at Carretera 10 in Chula Vista. Warden and lay reader Jim Powers will preside and give a message with the theme “Are You Listening?” based on John 10:22-30.
The congregations of Christ Church and Little Chapel share a common fellowship time between their two services, from about 10:35 until 11:10 a.m.
Christ Church sponsors a Bible Study Tuesdays, 2 p.m.
Little Chapel
Jim Powers will be the guest speaker at the Little Chapel by the Lake, Sunday, April 17, 11:15 a.m. His sermon will be “Are you Listening?”
The scripture for the sermon is John 10:22-30: “At that time the festival of the Dedication took place in Jerusalem. It was winter, and Jesus was walking in the temple, in the portico of Solomon. So the Jews gathered around him and said to him, “How long will you keep us in suspense? If you are the Messiah, tell us plainly.” Jesus answered, “I have told you, and you do not believe. The works that I do in my Father’s name testify to me; but you do not believe, because you do not belong to my sheep. My sheep hear my voice. I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one will snatch them out of my hand. What my Father has given me is greater than all else, and no one can snatch it out of the Father’s hand. The Father and I are one.”

San Andres English
On the fourth Sunday of Easter, April 17, Fr. Basil G. Royston, D. Min. will offer the homily “The Lamb will be Our Shepherd.”
“We offer in sacrifice the Lamb that takes away the sins of the world,” says Royston. “He who was slain is now our Shepherd. He will lead to springs of living water all who do not reject Him.”
