San Andres English
On Sunday, April 24, Fr. Basil G. Royston, D. Min. will offer the homily “The New Creation.”
“Christ at this season puts fresh heart in us to spread His kingdom. He gives us His new commandment to love and encourages us with the promise of the New Jerusalem,” says Fr. Royston.

Lakeside Presbyterian
What is the purpose of life? Why are we here? For what were we created?
It seems very few people today know why they exist, and so our lives are spent in a struggle to find meaning. Sunday, April 24, Pastor Ross Arnold of Lakeside Presbyterian Church will speak to these critically important questions in his sermon, “The Life of the World to Come.” Using the last phrases of the Nicene Creed as his guide, Pastor Arnold will help us understand not only what life is for and why we exist, but also how we can find the answers we all are seeking.

Christ Church Episcopal
Christ Church Episcopal will observe the fifth Sunday of Easter by celebrating Holy Communion at 9:30 a.m., Sunday, April 24 at the Little Chapel by the Lake, located at Carretera 10 in Chula Vista. Christ Church Secretary and lay reader Dr. Inez Dayer will preside and give a message with the theme “Doing God’s Work,” based on John 13:31-35.
The congregations of Christ Church and Little Chapel by the Lake share a common fellowship time between their two services, from about 10:35 to 11:10 a.m.
Christ Church sponsors a Bible Study Tuesday, 2 p.m. Join them and spend an hour tackling the Book of Genesis.
Unitarians
Sunday, April 24, Janice Kimball will present “How and Why the Creative Mind Works,” at the Lake Chapala Unitarian Universalist Fellowship. Her presentation focuses on the visual arts and will show that creating is an act of the mind that applies to all humans. Heidi MacLennan is the service leader.
The Unitarians have moved. They now meet 10:30 a.m. at their new facility at Hidalgo 261, opposite the bell tower, on the north side of the Carretera in Riberas del Pilar.
Lake Chapala Baptist
Brother Bob Hendrick ponders on Jesus’ availability: “OK, you are halfway to Guadalajara when your car sputters to a stop. That is irritating but not fatal, you’ll just call someone to come to your rescue. You whip out your cell phone and call someone at their home phone and get the answering machine or just continual ringing. So, you call their cell phone and get a few rings and then their voice mail box. And you think, ‘why does she have a cell phone? She never has it with her,’ or ‘he probably put it on silent last week when he was at the theater in order to guarantee everyone’s full enjoyment,’ and you cannot get the attention of anyone. The writer of the book of Hebrews does not guarantee prompt road-service, but he does say Jesus Christ is always available, can always be reached, and is always ready and able to help and to save those that come to God by Him.”

St. Andrew’s Anglican
The third of four pastoral care seminars at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church is held Saturday, April 23, 10:30 a.m. Dr. Ken Jones will discuss health issues and the IMSS system. Next Saturday’s final seminar welcomes Cynthia Guzman, a Chapala funeral director, who will speak about their service and how to make a trying time easier. All are welcome.
Can love be commanded? If someone orders you to love brussels sprouts, will you love them because of that command? That’s the conundrum created by Jesus’ words in this week’s Gospel reading. And it’s the commanding of love that Fr. Winston Welty deals with in his sermon, “Because I Said So!” Worship begins at 10 am. The children’s bilingual Sunday School is at 9:45 a.m. and a coffee hour in the garden follows the worship service.
On the last Sunday of each month, donations provide lunches for Mezcala schoolchildren. And every Sunday, the feeding programs supported by St. Andrew’s welcome donations of non-perishable items, left in the baskets by the church doors.
The men’s monthly luncheon takes place on Wednesday, noon at Gaucho Tequila Restaurant in San Antonio, on the Libramiento next door to Tio Sam.

New Hope Christian
The New Hope Christian Fellowship will continue to worship in the upper room of the Presbyterian Church Sunday, April 24. A brief fellowship period at 10:45 a.m. will be followed by the regular worship service at 11 a.m. Along with scriptures, hymns and prayers, Pastor Gene Raymer will deliver a message he has titled “Peace.”
“Peace does not come from beating your enemies into submission, but rather by submitting to God’s grace.” says the Pastor. “When we accept God’s grace, we are at peace with Him. When we are at peace with Him, we can be at peace with ourselves. Only then can we be at peace with others.”
New Hope Christian Fellowship is a non-denominational congregation seeking to emulate the Christian church of the first century (minus the idol worship and temple prostitution). All Christians and all who want to learn more about becoming a Christian are welcomed to their services. When the worship service is completed, many in the congregation go to a local restaurant to continue our fellowship over a meal.

St. Marks’ Anglican, Guadalajara
On Sunday, April 24, St. Mark’s Anglican Church English Mass begins 10:30 a.m., and Dr. Jim Priddy’s sermon will focus on the day’s readings, including the account in Acts 11 pointing toward inclusiveness and Jesus’s instruction to his followers in John 13 that they love one another.
The choir, directed by Debbie Matthew, will sing seasonal hymns.
St. Mark’s is preparing for U.S. Mother’s Day, May 8, and for Pentecost, May 15, during which the day’s gospel will be read in numerous languages.
