Used dog leashes, collars needed

The Humane Education Alliance (Alianza por una Educación Humanitaria) is collecting used dog leashes and collars for their World Animal Day 2016 event.

The items will be cleaned up and packaged to hand out to local children who have a dog.

Though World Animal Day is officially on October 4, the Humane Education Alliance event will be held on Sunday, October 2, to enable as many children and their parents as possible to come.

The event promises to be a great occasion, with workshops for children, animal drawing competitions, and demonstrations by well-known local trainers on how children can train their dogs by teaching them simple commands.

The event is registered with the World Animal Day organization and published on their official site to show what is being done in Mexico to celebrate this day. For updates nearer to the date about exact times, check the entry on the official WAD site at www.worldanimalday.org.uk,  then click on “Events” and select “Americas.”

Used leashes and collars can be dropped off at the Lakeside Friends of the Animals pet shop in Riberas, the Ladron veterinary clinic, Pet Place in Plaza Interlago, Petfood and Grooming in Ajijic West, and several other veterinarian clinics and dog grooming salons around town. Look for the bright green donation boxes.

The Humane Education Alliance anti-violence education project in Lakeside schools is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Ajijic.
