Rainy season good to Lake Chapala

Lake Chapala benefited from above average precipitation registered during the 2015 rainy season, recuperating 1.45 meters on the water elevation scale during the wet summer and fall months, up by 16 centimeters compared to last year.

That’s not counting an extra post-season boost that may come from Hurricane Sandra as it strikes the Pacific coast this weekend.

National Water Commission figures for November 25 show the lake standing at a favorable 61.55 percent of its total holding capacity. Jalisco principal reservoirs are also riding high at an average 96 percent capacity, four points above the figures recorded 12 months ago.
