Jalisco beach to become wheelchair accessible

The coastal municipality of Cihuatlán hopes to become the first in the state to develop one of its beaches as “disabled and senior citizen inclusive.”

According to  Costalegre Hotel Association President  Jorge Humberto Cuevas, work will shortly begin at the Cuastecomates beach to install walkways and handrails that allow people with mobility issues to reach and enjoy the sand and sea.

Cihuatlán officials will model the Cuastecomates beach upgrade on a beach in Playa del Carmen, which became the first wheelchair accessible beach in Mexico in February 2013.
