Although Monday is officially a school day, many Tapatios are planning to take advantage of the federal holiday Tuesday, September 16 by heading to the beach this weekend.
But Mother Nature may have something ominous in store for them. The National Meteorological Service (SNM) is predicting that Tropical Storm Odile will become a hurricane Friday with heavy rains, high waves and winds affecting coastal areas from Acapulco to Puerto Vallarta.
On Wednesday, the SMN issued a tropical storm watch from Lazaro Cardenas, Michoacan, westward to Manzanillo, Colima. As yet, it is unclear how close Odile may track to the southern Baja peninsula. See updates at smn.cna.gob.mx.
