Teenagers shunning condoms

Only one in four sexually active teenagers in Jalisco always use a condom, according to the Jalisco youth survey.

“The number of young people that use condoms is around 38 percent,” said Jalisco Youth Institute Director Ramon Morales Sanchez. “Twenty-three percent of respondents say they never use a condom, 22 percent say they almost never do and 17 percent say they use one the majority of times.” Eighteen percent of survey respondents said they did not use condoms because they did not have the money to buy them. In 2015 there were 17,260 pregnant teenagers admitted to hospitals in Jalisco.
