The U.S. Consulate in Guadalajara is to support a program to train 50 women leaders in various municipalities of Jalisco.

The Jalisco Human Rights Commission says enforcing a regulation requiring all motorcyclists riding bikes less than 250cc to wear vests bearing their license plate numbers would be unconstitutional.

January 8 and 11 were the coldest days of the winter in Jalisco, according to Gustavo Salgado of the University of Guadalajara’s Institute of Meteorology. Temperatures fell to as low as one degree Celsius in some regions outside the metropolitan area.  Meteorologist Hector Magaña said the spells of cold weather will be shorter in duration and expected the first months of the year to be generally dry, due to the El Niño phenomenon.

Jalisco authorities may have overpaid significantly for a property in Chicago, Illinois purchased in 2009 by then state governor Emilio Gonzalez Marquez, the state comptroller suggested this week.
