The Nutcracker
The professional Joven Ballet de Jalisco presents this seasonal favorite in the city’s most elegant theater.

Closing out the year
The Camerata Sinfónica de Xalisco will be giving this year’s traditional end-of-year concerts in the stately Degollado Theater. The concerts will be conducted by Allen Vladimir Gómez, and feature soloists David Alejandro Padilla Guerrero (oboe) and Gerardo Ruvalcaba Rodriguez (violin). The program will feature Mozart’s “Marriage of Figaro Overture,”   Bach’s “Concerto for Violin and Oboe in C minor,” Juventino Rosas’ “Sobre Las Olas” and Haydn’s “Symphony No. 45 in F-sharp minor” (known as the “Farewell” Symphony).

The JPO opens its first season of 2015 with a concert featuring acclaimed Mexican pianist Jorge Federico Osorio interpreting works by Brahms.

Live from the Met
The Met: Live in HD series continues through April 2015 with its simulcasts from the Big Apple. Lehár’s “The Merry Widow” is a new production featuring the great Renée Fleming as the beguiling femme fatale who captivates all Paris. The staging is by Broadway virtuoso director and choreographer Susan Stroman (The Producers, Oklahoma!, Contact).
