Romeo & Juliet
In honor of the 400th anniversary of the death of English literary great William Shakespeare and International Dance Day, the Ballet Jalisco and the Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra team up for a special presentation of this famous classical dance work telling the familiar tale of two young lovers at the mercy of powerful families and their own hearts, set to Prokofiev’s soaring score.

The New York Jazz All Stars series, sponsored by the Universidad de Guadalajara in conjunction with Jazz at Lincoln Center, presents Clarence Pen and Penn Station. Famed drummer Clarence Penn is the leader of multiple bands, a composer, a prolific producer, and an educator. Expect an evening of explosive, yet nuanced jazz with Penn and his quartet.

MAY CULTURAL FESTIVAL. German pianist Lilya Zilberstein joins the Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra to interpret the works of Sergei Rachmaninov, Gustav Mahler and Richard Strauss. In addition to her orchestral appearances, Zilberstein has presented recitals in many of the world’s musical capitals. Several of her recordings made for Deutsche Grammophon have drawn enthusiastic reviews.
