Naked Stage
The Naked Stage Readers Theater presents “Match,” written by Stephen Belber and directed by Georgette Richmond, on Friday, May 29, Saturday, May 30 and Sunday, May 31. All performances start at 4 p.m. at Rio Bravo 10-A in Ajijic.
Plein Air at ASA
Impressionistic artist and lakeside resident Isabel DeBlanc is the guest speaker for a meeting of the Ajijic Society of the Arts (ASA) at Restaurant La Bodega on Monday, June 1, 10 a.m.
Business affairs will occupy the first section of the meeting, followed by DeBlanc, a plein air painter, explaining and demonstrating her technique from 10:30 a.m.
DeBlanc paints landscapes, figurative and still-life paintings on-site. Her use of natural light is infinitely obvious by the quality of her realistic portraits and nudes and rural scenes of grazing cattle, barns and fields of blue bonnets.
DeBlanc was born in Mexico and grew up on the Texas Gulf Coast, where by age four she was already an accomplished artist. Her artistic gift is demonstrated in her wide range of subjects and the various media she utilizes. She has exhibited in Texas, New Mexico, California, France and Mexico.
DeBlanc has been featured in many one-woman shows, including Galeria Sol Mexicano in Ajijic, Galeria La Manzanilla and several in San Miguel de Allende. She offers classes and sessions to other artists in her home studio-workshop, teaching life drawing and portrait painting. She is the founder of Ajijic’s Plein Air Group. Bus to the Ballet
Viva la Musica is sponsoring a bus trip so lakesiders can attend the ballet “Romeo and Juliet” presented by the exciting Joven Ballet de Jalisco, the only 100-percent professional dance company in Guadalajara. The trip is scheduled at the Degollado Theater on Sunday June 14.
The bus leaves just east of Farmacia Guadalajara at 10:30 a.m. for the performance starting at 12:30 p.m.
The Joven Ballet has been receiving great reviews under the direction of Darius Blajer. The troupe works extremely hard and puts in many hours of rehearsal for its shows. It’s a local venture that is well worth supporting.

Tall Boys Book Benefit
Friends and fans of Bill Vincent are gathering forces for a blow-out benefit event on Wednesday, June 17, 6 p.m. at Mama’s Bar and the Fuente Azul Eventos in San Antonio Tlayacapan.
The benefit will begin with a 150-peso Mexican buffet at Mama’s before party-goers reconvene in the adjoining entertainment hall for raffles, silent auctions and music from the Tall Boys.
In past years, Vincent, a popular retired musician and songwriter, has popped up at every local happening to add to the ambience with his guitar, and often with songs written just for that group. This year, Vincent has been temporarily challenged by a worsening series of chronic diseases which recently led to the amputation of a leg.
This benefit is the time for members of the community to repay Bill and his wife, Kitt, for their endless volunteer activities and support of others. Those wishing to should RSVP, so Mama’s can prepare enough food. Silent auction items can be left with Elisa at Mama’s Bar which is at Gonzalez Gallo 86 in San Antonio Tlayacapan. Bill Vincent Benefit
Popular local musician Bill Vincent’s spirits have remained characteristically cheery during a long illness that recently resulted in the amputation of a leg. Here, he plays guitar during an October hospital stay. Plans for a June 17 benefit have been released.

Lakeside’s Daniel Cordero is set to play iconic English rock classics in the Guadalajara club, Legends of Rock Video Bar, on Wednesday, June 3, 9:30 p.m. Area friends are invited to join him in the event, which has been titled “Daniel Cordero Unplugged.” the venue is on Av. Americas, almost at the corner of Av. Mexico.
Harp Festival draws dozens of virtuoso musicians to lakeside
The Nematatlín quintet from the Universidad de Veracruz will showcase the vibrant Jarocho style of traditional Mexican music at the main event of the 13th Encuentro de Arpas, Salterios y Más festival to be held Wednesday, June 10, on the grounds of the Centro Cultural González Gallo. The event’s founder, Jalisco harp master William Faulkner, is also listed on the bill of more than a dozen ensembles and solo artists to appear at the music-lovers marathon slated to run from 2 to 10 p.m., with free admission to the public.
