Supplies needed to restore Ajijic Malecon

Ajijic Town Administrator Hector España is asking area expats to help the city workers restore the gardens at the malecon. The village workers have exhausted the supply of fertilizers, seeds and preventatives, and other vital garden supplies. Even the grass is thinning despite regular watering. To date, the written petition that was sent to municipal government offices has not been answered.

España reminds residents that the park will be heavily used for Mother’s Day celebrations and the flurry of other May holidays and graduations, meaning the gardeners need help now to get it in good shape.

Says España: “Please, bring any leftover or newly purchased garden chemicals and other supplies to the storage bodega nearest the pier. Just ask any of the gardeners to carry your donations from your car.”

Another opportunity to help beautify local parks will be the third annual Plant In on June 15. Many area residents are separating, dividing and propagating overgrown plants now so that they can help supply Ajijic with a fresh supply of plants. All types of plant material and trees can be delivered to the bodega. It will be planted in one of Ajijic’s many public green spaces.
