Free tours to Zapotlanejo

Free Saturday bus tours to the fashion center of Zapotlanejo started last weekend and are set to continue for a limited period.  The promotion is organized jointly by the city governments of Guadalajara and Zapotlanejo, a busy town situated 25 kilometers east of the metropolitan area.

The tour includes a stop at the famous Calderon Bridge, the site of a key battle in Mexico’s independence struggle.  There’s plenty of time to browse the scores of clothing stores in the city center (some estimates suggest there are around 2,000 of them), before heading to the charming Hacienda Coyotes  ecotourism center for a tour and an explanation of the temazcal (sweat lodge) ritual.  Lunch may be taken here, if desired.

The tour leaves the offices of Turismo de Guadalajara at Avenida de Las Rosas 1297, each Saturday at 8 a.m., returning from Zapotlanejo at 5 p.m. To make reservations for this free trip, call 3615-7224 or email This email address is being protected from spambots.
