Fleet-footed canines prepare put on a show

The Western Agility Organization will hold its second Official USDAA Dog Agility Competition at the Hotel Perico in Ajijic Saturday and Sunday, August 27 and 28.

The competition runs from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

Competitors will be coming from across Mexico to strive for any last qualifications needed to advance to the September 16-18 Mexican Regional finals, and ultimately the November 9-13, Cynosport® World Games in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Forty to 50 talented dogs are expected to compete at this exciting Ajijic event.

This competition will be run under USDAA rules, which can be accessed at www.usdaa.com.

Dogs run in size categories from 8 inch to 26 inch for Championship courses, and 8 inch to 20 inch for Performance courses.  Performance agility is considered recreational or accommodates older dogs. However, dogs running at Championship and Performance level are seeking qualification points to compete at Cynosport® World Games.

Officiating will be Judge Dave Grubel from Pleasant Hill, California, who has 16 years experience in dog agility and is a qualified USDAA Masters Judge as well as ASCA and UKI.

Spectators are welcome and there is no entry fee to attend.  Snacks and beverages will be available for purchase.

This event is being organized through Agility Jalisco, Western Agility Organization with a committee of participants from agility clubs in Jalisco, Aguascalientes and Toluca.

Hotel Perico is located at Libramiento 2000, kilometer 2.5 in San Antonio (entrance adjacent to the Michelin Tire Shop).
