Terranova Institute runs for local charities

More than 300 enthusiastic children, teenagers and adults turned up to participate in “Run to Help” (Corre por Ayudar) and “Terra Color Race” – two fundraisers organized by the Terranova Institute each year to help charitable institutions in the Lake Chapala area.

The more fit started the 10-km race from Chapala city hall, while a larger group – greeted by Chapala Mayor Javier Degollado – set off on the 3-km jog from Black Coffee Gallery on the Libramiento. Both groups finished at Terranova Institute’s premises in Rancho del Oro.  The winners of the nine categories each received 2,000 pesos, while the second and third places were given cinema passes.

The group running the “Terra Color Race” started from Centro Laguna immersed in clouds of colors blown for the most part by Captain America.  Children, teenagers and adults all had fun throwing dust colors to each other along the route.  More fun awaited them when they arrived at the school: music, a brincolin (bouncy castle), food and  the prizes.

After the awards ceremony, Terranova Institute’s principal handed over a check for 18,000 pesos to Chapala Red Cross Administrative Coordinator María de los Angeles García, and another one for the same amount to Becky Plinke from Casa Hogar La Ola.
