HIV/AIDS Day

World AIDS Day, which was established in 1988 by the World Health Organization and the United Nations to remember those living with HIV and those who died from AIDS, will be commemorated on Sunday, November 30, when two red ribbons will be installed at the amphitheater on Ajijic’s malecon. Representatives from Ajijic Cares and Vihas de Vidas will be on hand throughout the day to provide information about the disease and its prevention.

Both groups will continue to share information all day Monday, December 1. Then at sunset, an official remembrance ceremony will be held at the ampitheater. Area residents are encouraged to attend, and to bring flowers or personal memorials. These events are planned to show support to those who have been touched by HIV/AIDS, and to continue to work toward the end of the disease.
