Mystery Show
Join in the fun of sleuthing who the murderer is while enjoying dinner with friends and the cast of the Amigos de la Cruz Players as they present “Murder, Mayhem and Green Marshmallow Salad.”
The event is a fun fundraiser for Amigos de la Cruz set for Tuesday, March 17 and Wednesday, March 18, at Philo’s in La Cruz. Tickets cost 300 pesos and include dinner.
Philo’s famous all-you-can-eat ribs will be served family-style. A vegetarian selection will also be available. The show starts at 6:30 p.m. and there is general seating, so come early and be sure to wear something green on the Tuesday (for St. Patrick’s Day).

Appreciation Dinner

Fashion Show
The popular annual Beta Sigma Phi fashion show, “Nayarit Lifestyles 2015,” an afternoon of fashion and fun, is set for Tuesday, March 17, from 2 to 4:30 p.m. (again, wear your green).
The show will be held at Karen’s Place in Bucerias.
Tickets cost 300 pesos and include lunch, a glass of Champagne and the viewing of fashions from all around the bay. They will, as usual, go fast.

Punta de Mita
Fundacion Punta de Mita and the Redford Center have joined forces to “celebrate conservation” and are inviting everyone to be part of a day/night event on Saturday, March 21.
Enjoy a day of play on Punta Mita Club de Golf’s Jack Nicklaus signature course. There will be a 1 p.m. shotgun start with a scramble format. Prizes are offered for closest to the pin on several holes, as well as the longest drive for men and women.
After a day of fun on the golf course, the celebration continues in the club house. Here, you can join the Redford Center’s renowned director and conservationist James Redford, together with Dr. Osvel Hinojosa-Huerta, director of the water and wetlands program Pronatura Noroeste, in celebrating and supporting one of the greatest environmental restoration opportunities of our time: an ambitious cross-border effort to reconnect the Colorado River to its Mexican river delta.
The evening features dinner and drinks at the Punta Mita Golf Club’s Tail of the Whale restaurant and an open-air screening of “Watershed” (an award-winning film that tells the story of the threats to the Colorado River) followed by a question-and-answer session with Redford (the film’s director) and Hinojosa-Huerta. The evening begins with a welcome cocktail from 6 to 7 p.m.
Tickets for the golf tournament are US$200 per person and the movie night and dinner are US$125. A combined tournament, movie and dinner ticket is US$275.
Raise the River campaign is a cooperative effort among the Redford Center, Pronatura Noroeste, the Nature Conservancy, the Sonoran Institute, Environmental Defense Fund and the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation. The Fundacion Punta de Mita supports Red Tortuguera, Proyecto Manta, Eco Bac, Entre Amigos and Jaguar Warriors.

Clothes donations
The Beta Sigma Phi (BSP) Service Sorority has successfully given out all of the gently used clothing donated to their for-the-needy program.
The sorority is now looking to prepare for next season. Members would appreciate donations of clothing for women, men and children; shoes for women and children and clothing for cooler weather.
BSP asks snowbirds preparing to leave for the season to take a look around the home for items they no longer use.

“Watershed” Documentary
‘Watershed,” a documentary telling the story of the threats to the Colorado River, directed by James Redford, will be screened at a charity event at the Punta Mita Club de Golf on March 21.
Adventure seekers
An all-expenses paid trip for two is the prize offered to adventure-seekers, extreme sports enthusiasts or nature lovers.
The contest, RivieraNayaritExtremo, is sponsored by the marketing department of the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau during March.
Says Liliana Lara, marketing director for the bureau: “We want a younger audience to get to know the Riviera Nayarit through our diverse adventure activities and interaction with our natural surroundings. We want to reach those who are committed to preserving the environment and seek to experience it in a positive manner.”
The contest is open to anyone over the age of 18 living anywhere in Mexico. The winner will receive a complete vacation for two, including accommodations and food and beverages for a four-day/three-night stay at the Occidental Grand Nuevo Vallarta; two domestic round-trip tickets and complimentary tours that include scuba diving, sky diving, kite surfing, surfing, paddle boarding, ATV rides, zip-lining, rappelling, fly boarding, sailing and more.
“Take a look at the Riviera Nayarit’s Facebook page (which is in Spanish only) and invite your friends — the more friends who sign up, the more chances you have to win,” says Lara.
The contest started accepting entries at the beginning of March.
