NFL looks to return to Mexico

Although not confirmed officially, it appears Mexico will host regular season NFL games once again.

Sources suggest one game will be held per season over a five-year period, starting in 2017.

The first NFL game in Mexico was held in the capital’s Azteca Stadium in 2005, when the Arizona Cardinals beat the San Francisco 49ers.

Monterrey may be the logical choice for a new round of games, as a huge new stadium has just opened. The stadium will be home to the Monterrey Rayados soccer team but was built with other sports, including football, in mind.

The NFL is looking to expand its international scope, with three regular season games planned in London this year.
