US firm opens 4th city plant

Jabil Circuit, Inc. has opened its fourth metropolitan area plant in the Guadalajara Technology Park, situated four kilometers past the city beltway (periferico) on the highway to Tepic.

The U.S.-based global electronics manufacturing services company is investing US$10 million in the plant that will provide 600 full-time jobs.

Jalisco Governor Aristoteles Sandoval boasted that the deal to open another Jabil facility in the city is a direct result of a trade trip he made last year to California.

Headquartered in St. Petersburg, Florida, Jabil is the third largest contract manufacturer in the world, with 90 facilities in 23 countries and 175,000 employees worldwide. Its customers span numerous industries, including health care, life sciences, clean technology, instrumentation, defense, aerospace, automotive, computing, storage, consumer products, networking and telecommunications. In 2012, Jabil was recognized by Fortune magazine as one of the Fortune 500 Most Admired Companies.
