One of Canada’s ten most wanted fugitives was detained in Guadalajara last Wednesday and deported three days later to Vancouver, British Colombia, authorities here have revealed.
In 2011, Cory Vallee was charged in his absence for the killings of two men in gangland related hits in 2008 and 2009. According to sources in Vancouver, Vallee was placed on Interpol’s most wanted list after he fled Canada in the wake of the murders.
Vallee was picked up in Guadalajara on August 14 by agents of the federal Attorney General’s Office (PGR), with back up by National Immigration Institute (INM). He was allegedly using a fake identity. Vallee was deemed to have breached Mexican immigration law and quickly deported to Canada.
Had he been arrested, Canadian authorities would had to have make a request for extradition, a process that could take many months.
According to the Vancouver Sun, Valle was an alleged hit man for Vancouver’s United Nations gang, which became embroiled in a bloody conflict with their rivals, the Red Scorpions, in the late 2000s.
The paper said the United Nations gang has close ties with Mexico.
