Two criminals on a motorbike followed their target from the bank as he made his way to the popular shopping complex at Avenida Vallarta and Rafael Sanzio.
The men drew up alongside their target as he got out of the vehicle and struck him with a pistol before grabbing the cash. Two Zapopan motorcycle cops parked nearby who were quickly alerted to the situation managed to follow the pair as they roared down Rafael Sanzio toward Avenida Guadalupe.
The criminals fired several shots at their pursuers but the cops did not retaliate, noting later that to have done so could have put bystanders and other motorists in danger.
