Was man murdered in parking row?

Jalisco Governor Aristoteles Sandoval has ordered his state attorney general to speed up an investigation into the alleged beating death of a 38-year-old man who objected to a woman who had parked her car blocking a ramp for the disabled.

The incident is alleged to have occurred at the corner of Avenida López Mateos and Antonio de León in Guadalajara’s Colonia Ladron de Guevara.

According to the police report, following a verbal altercation between the two parties, the woman made a call on her cellphone, shortly after which a man appeared who began to hit Carlos “Charly” Álvarez Bradley on his head with a metal bar.

After the pair fled, Álvarez was transferred to the IMSS Centro Medico but died two days later from his injuries.

Sandoval this week tweeted his support for Alvarez after an appeal was launched on Facebook for financial donations to help his wife and three-year-old daughter.  Alvarez has been described as a happy and friendly man, who was self-employed in a recycling business.

Talking to the press this week, Attorney General Eduardo Almaguer said although investigators were aware that an altercation had occurred, there are no videos of the alleged incident, despite the fact it took place on one of the metro area’s busiest thoroughfares.

Nonetheless, Almaguer said the investigation was being “handled scientifically” and was “well advanced.” He anticipated that those involved would be identified soon.
