Ranchero icon backing Hillary

Famed Mexican ranchero singer Vicente Fernandez has thrown his support behind Hillary Clinton by releasing a music video in which he urges Latinos to join forces to ensure victory for the Democratic presidential candidate in November.

The video was produced in collaboration with Latino Victory Project, a movement that promotes the voices and values of Latinos at every level of U.S. government.

Fernandez makes no direct reference to Donald Trump in the “corrido,” but mentions how Mexicans have been hurt by offensive comments.

At the beginning and end of the video, which includes archive footage of Clinton, Fernandez is seen on his ranch outside Guadalajara. In a final message to the Democratic candidate, he says,  “Mrs. Clinton, when you become president, don’t forget my Mexican and Latin American brothers. A hug and I will be there to congratulate you when you are president. God bless you.”
