Ajijic Culture Center houses facility for online studies

The computer salon located on the top floor of Ajijic’s Centro Cultural (CCA) has been pegged by the University of Guadalajara (UDG) to serve as study space open to persons enrolled in its online academic programs.

UDG Virtual offers the opportunity for students to pursue university level study courses for licenciaturas (degrees) in the following fields: information technology, library and learning technology, education development, administration of business organizations, management of cooperative organizations, digital journalism, citizen security and cultural promotion. The normal timeframe for completing these programs is four years.

Other options include two-year courses to become a technician in management of cooperatives or to earn a bachillerato, similar to a high school equivalency diploma, as well as postgraduate and continued learning programs.

Online education is particularly advantageous for working persons who wish to achieve advancement in knowledge and employment qualifications by studying during their free time from any convenient location. And tuition fees for UDG Virtual are substantially lower than the cost of transportation from lakeside to any of the institution’s physical campuses. CCA will provide enrollees with free use and priority access to its 14 computers.

The registration deadline for candidates applying to enter for the next semester — starting in January 2015 — is September 30.  Complete details are posted at www.udgvirtual.udg.mx.
