Virtual libraries slated for Chapala, environs

Chapala Mayor Joaquín Huerta announced that online libraries are being installed at seven locations in the municipality in a public education enhancement program funded by the National Council of Science and Technology (Conacyt).

The bibliotecas virtuales will be housed in pre-fabricated units to be set up in Ajijic, San Antonio Tlayacapan, Santa Cruz de la Soledad and San Nicolás de Ibarra. Others will be installed at Chapala’s old city hall building, a facility located at Cristiania Park and DIF headquarters in Atotonilquillo.

Conacyt is coughing up approximately 23.5 million pesos to build and equip the libraries, with the local government contributing solely locations, foundations for the pre-fab structures and personnel to operate the systems that will be up and running early next year.
