The Chapala municipal government celebrated World Environment Day last Sunday with the launch of a summer reforestation campaign, starting with 80 trees planted on the grounds of Cristiania Park.
The program picks up again next Saturday, June 18, 9 a.m., when new species will be introduced to Ajijic’s Jardin International, set at the west end of the malecón.
Village residents interested in supporting the cause are encouraged to lend a hand or send their gardeners to assist. The call is also out for contributions to the fourth annual Ajijic Plant-In, scheduled for Monday, June 13. Donated plants to be used for refurbishing the town’s public green areas may be dropped at the gardeners storage bodega located in the waterfront park just west of the parking area nearest to the pier.
