Beefed up presence of security forces in the Chapala area over the past week is no cause for alarm, according to local authorities.
The appearance of state police patrols roaming the main avenue and a sharp-shooter posed on the roof of the former town hall last Saturday was attributed to the arrival of the Jalisco attorney general for a meeting with lakeshore region mayors. Troops in the downtown area the following Tuesday were related to a private event for military officers.
