Obituaries – Alan Vincent Roseman

Alan Vincent Roseman, a seven-year resident of Chapala, died on May 16 following surgery.

Roseman was born the only child of Eleanor and Cecil Roseman, on July 31, 1933, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. At the age of 16, he joined the United States Marine Corps. He was very proud to serve his country during the Korean War, where he fought in the Battle of Chosin Reservoir, some of the toughest fighting in the history of the Marines. He would often say, “Once a Marine, always a Marine.” He also held various offices at the American Legion Post 7 in Chapala.

Roseman’s accomplishments are far too many to list, but they do include over 20 years at Grady Minor and Associates, in Florida, where he served as vice president.

While living in Florida he became a licensed pastor and a guiding influence to boys sentenced to Big Cypress Wilderness Institute, leading them to a relationship with the Lord, and also baptizing them.

In Chapala, Roseman became a volunteer for Love in Action and the Holy Spirit Church.

All who knew him were touched by his kind, enthusiastic, thoughtful, sweet and loving spirit as well as his wonderful sense of humor. His virtuous example helped lead many hearts and lives to Jesus Christ.

Roseman leaves behind his loving and devoted wife Audrey, his two daughters Bernie Butera and Gail Prange, five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He also leaves behind two stepdaughters, Rachel Lepper and Mari Barton, along with four additional grandchildren.

A friend and fellow Marine wrote these words about Roseman: “He was one of the Chosin. His muscle died, but his Heart never stopped.”

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2 p.m. at the Holy Spirit Church in Chapala.
