Tourists flood in to Western Mexico

Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico, operators of the Guadalajara Airport and 12 others in western Mexico, has reported a 25 percent increase in domestic passenger traffic and 12 percent in international traffic at all its facilities during September, compared with same month last year.

Contributing to domestic growth, the company said, were the federal government’s campaign “Let’s Travel through Mexico,” as well as an increase in remittances from abroad and a favorable peso-dollar exchange rate. Lower oil prices, as well as the Mexican peso depreciation, were the main growth drivers for international passenger flow. The Guadalajara to Tijuana route reported the highest growth rate within GAP with a 37.1 percent increase in passenger flow las month compared to September 2015.
