Sleeping Beauty

After last year’s success, Joven Ballet de Jalisco, Guadalajara’s professional resident ballet company, will recreate its spectacular outdoor production of t

he classic fairytale “Sleeping Beauty” to the beautiful music of Tchaikovsky in the majestic central patio of the Cabañas Institute.

Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra 

The orchestra performs works by the three finalists in the Jalisco Orchestral Compositions Prize, along with Igor Stravinsky’s “Firebird.” Miguel Salmon del Real is the guest conductor. At 37, he is the youngest person to have been named director of the Orquesta Sinfonica de Michoacan.

Cabaret

The accomplished student performers from the Tec de Monterrey University are sure to give their all in a performance of the classic musical set in pre World War II Berlin that launched the career of Lisa Minelli.

Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra 

Olivier Chauzu is the guest pianist, interpreting Vincent D’Indy’s Symphonie sur un Chant montagnard français op.25. Also Ravel’s “Daphnis and Chloe.”  The concert features the Jalisco State Choir, directed by Sergio Hernandez.

Joven Ballet 

To celebrate International Dance Day,  the Joven Ballet de Jalisco salutes Manhattan with “Who Cares?” set to George Gershwin’s best loved songs and choreographed by  New York City Ballet’s founder, G. Balanchine.   Also, the company’s acclaimed “Scheherazade,” to Rimsky  Korsakov’s dazzling music choreographed by award winning Canadian-based creator Mark Godden.
