Youth chamber music Sept. 19-Oct. 3

Guadalajara presents the Fifth Young Chamber Music Cycle from September 19 through October 3.

Five groups from Jalisco, Veracruz and Mexico City will perform, giving a platform for young musicians and emerging composers. The two-week program includes concerts, workshops, conferences, film projections, special tutorials and didactic presentations.

Three Jalisco chamber groups – Project Caos, Cuarteto Nima, the guitar Cuartet Equus – and the Cuarteto Tamayo from Veracruz  will interpret contemporary music and also focus on Mexican composers. The Raga Ensamble de Percusion from Mexico City will present a multimedia and musical spectacle. The closing concert will present the premiers of works by young Mexican composers chosen by way of a national competition.

Wednesday, September 24: Proyecto Caos at La Casa Suspendida, 8:30 p.m. 50 pesos.
Thursday, September 25: Ensamble Equus at La Casa Suspendida, 8:30 p.m. 50 pesos.
Friday, September 26:  Cuarteto Tamayo at ProArte, 8:30 p.m. 90 pesos.
Wednesday, October 1: Cuarteto Nima at La Casa Suspendida, 8:30 p.m. 50 pesos.
Thursday, October 2: Raga Ensamble at  La Casa Suspendida, 8:30 p.m. 80 pesos.
Friday, October 3: Closing Concert at UdeG Paraninfo, 8:30 p.m. Free.
