The principal flautist in the Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra, Belarus-born Antonio Dubatovka, returns to Ajijic Saturday, March 5, to join well known pianist Timothy Welch in a performance of Russian music for flute and piano.

Guadalajara’s excellent Paleontology Museum (Museo de Paleontologia) hosts Festi Cactus, a festival dedicated to the collection and study of cacti, from Friday, February 19 through Sunday, February 21.  

Mariachi Nuevo Tecalitlán

One of Mexico’s most famous mariachi bands plays the second concert at this new city venue.

Around 1,600 people gathered Tuesday evening for the official opening of metro-area Guadalajara’s newest performing arts space, the Palacio de la Cultura y la Comunicación (Palcco).

The Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra (JPO) got off to a novel start on its 2016 winter/spring season last weekend as world renowned French flutist-turned-director Patrick Gallois headed up a program that was innovative in many ways, most obviously in bringing on stage his wife, Finnish artist Tiina Osara, to create a large-format action painting as the musicians played the evening’s centerpiece, the wintry and esoteric Symphony No. 7 in C major, Op. 105, by Jean Sibelius.
