Singing for good causes

Ajijic’s La Bodega restaurant is holding a singing contest to raise funds for the Chapala Red Cross, the local Civil Protection-Fire Department, the School for Special Children (Jocotepec) and Operation Feed (San Juan Cosala).

The competition is open to performers of all musical genres who register by Sunday, September 13 with a 20-peso sign-up fee. Run-offs between ten contestants will be held on September 17, September 24 and October 1, 7:30 p.m. Three singers will be selected on each date to enter the October 8 final.

Scoring will be based on evaluation of guest judges (80 percent) and accumulation of points purchased at one-peso each by fans for the charity kitty (20 percent).   La Bodega will kick in 20 percent of customer tabs on contest nights towards the cause.  Stop by the restaurant, 16 de  Septiembre 124, to register and get the complete contest.
