Busy days at Ajijic Cultural Center

Efren Gonzalez is wrapping up his three-year stint as director of the Centro Cultural de Ajijic (CCA) with a full program of special events that will keep gallery spaces and the newly refurbished stage area buzzing with activity from next weekend through the end of the month. 

New Chapala venue quickly into action

Following last week’s reopening of Chapala’s former town hall as the Centro Cultural Antigua Presidencia, the new facility will be the venue for a series of special performances listed on this year’s Fiestas Patrias program.

Singing for good causes

Ajijic’s La Bodega restaurant is holding a singing contest to raise funds for the Chapala Red Cross, the local Civil Protection-Fire Department, the School for Special Children (Jocotepec) and Operation Feed (San Juan Cosala).  

Little Theatre gears up for Season 51

Season tickets for the 51st season of Lakeside Little Theatre (LLT) are available at the theatre box office on Tuesday and  Wednesday, September 8 and 9, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Mariachi Fest comes to Ajijic

The lakeside extension of Guadalajara’s 2015 Encuentro Internacional del Mariachi will take the form of a Fiesta Mexicana to be held Friday, September 11, 5 p.m., at the esplanade outside the Auditorio de la Ribera, La Floresta.

A whirlwind of color & movement

Ajijic artist Efren Gonzalez recently completed a new painting to commemorate Mexico’s upcoming patriotic holidays and the traditional precision teams of talented young girls who compete riding sidesaddle at break-neck speeds.
