Campus Party

This week, several thousand developers, gamers, geeks and hackers descended on Expo Guadalajara for Campus Party 2015.  The five-day, round-the-clock technology festival is a magnet for tech savvy folks, many of whom camp out in tents on the Expo floor for the duration of the event.

Farmer’s markets 

As more Tapatios become aware of the benefits of eating sustainably produced food, more farmer’s market spring up in the metro area. Perhaps the most well-known is the one held in the plush Andares Mall in Zapopan each Saturday morning. But there are others, some held in he driveways of private homes.  Here’s a selection.

Fiesta de Musica

Music will ring out along Guadalajara’s Via Recreactiva on Sunday, June 21 when the Fiesta de Musica takes place on eight stages set at different points on the route between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Out-of-town beer fest

Anyone heading out to Tequila this weekend will be able to take in a new beer festival, the Festi Valles de la Cerveza 2015, in the town’s main plaza. Artisan producers and microbreweries will be showing off their brews, and foodies can sample treats in the gastronomic pavilion.  Music and activities for children are planned, organizers say. The Mariachi Cocula is scheduled to take to the stage at 8 p.m. on both days. There is no entry fee to the festival.
