Chapala city hall has refused to issue a permit for the Festival del Lodo off-road event originally scheduled for April 17 at the Tobolandia water park, authorizing an alternate event on Sunday, May 1 at a different location.
A previous Mud Fest held at Tobolandia caused a huge uproar among residents of La Floresta, Rivera Alta and other nearby subdivisions due to the deafening noise and other disturbances caused by the throng of Guadalajara thrill-seekers in attendance.
The May 1 happening for 4x4’s, dirt bikes and ATVs will take place at the event’s original location on the lake front, about one kilometer north of the old Chapala railway station.
