Daring diggers welcome

Gardening guru Francisco Nava will unearth a treasure trove of secrets for the aspiring green fingered at the Lake Chapala Society (LCS) for the next eight weeks.

A new course, Introduction to Gardening at Lakeside, launches Wednesday August 3.

“We are delighted that over half the class has already signed up,” said Sandy Feldmann, a director of  the Lake Chapala Garden Club who inspired the idea. “With a top limit of 20, there are only three weeks left for more Lakeside daring diggers to apply.”

The new introduction lessons are in English, run from 9.30 to 10.30 a.m., and cost 500 pesos to LCS members and 550 pesos for non members. The eight-part course includes a complimentary copy of the Lake Chapala Garden Club’s best-selling Garden Guide.

Pruning, sun and shade loving plants, growing organic vegetables and communicating well with your gardener are included in the curriculum. Exciting field trips are also planned.

Registration closes on Saturday July 30. More information at lakechapalagardenclub.org.
