Red Cross Information Kit

As a result of the problems Cruz Roja EMTs experience when called to help an intensely ill patient, the organization has been promoting the use of their Emergency Medical Information Kits.

The system couldn’t be more simple. A bilingual medical information form is tucked into a jar to be kept inside of the refrigerator. Also in the kit is a refrigerator magnet with the Cruz Roja ambulance phone number. The kits (at just 20 pesos each) will be available at a Cruz Roja Community Education Kit Workshop, in the Lake Chapala Society Gazebo at 11 a.m. on Monday, September 22.

The critical medical form in the kit will provide medical staff and first responders with the information about the health and medications of one member of the household. Homes with multiple residents should purchase and complete additional kits, one for each person. St. Andrew’s Anglican

Father Winston Welty has announced that a previously unknown first century peasant, Avram, will be the guest preacher at the 10 a.m. service on Sunday, September 21. Avram was working in the fields on a day when everyone, from pre-dawn arrivals to last-minute shirkers, were paid the exact same wage. After 2,000 years, Avram is finally able to present his message “Good News: Life Isn’t Fair!” There will be a time of welcome refreshments and fellowship in the garden after the service.

The children’s bilingual Sunday School starts at 9:45 a.m. Please leave non-perishable food for the St. Andrew’s feeding program items in the baskets at the doors.

The men’s monthly lunch is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 24 at Mario’s Restaurant in San Antonio Tlayacapan.  Sign-up sheets are in the Garden.
St. Andrew’s is located at Calle San Lucas 19, one block south of the carretera in Riberas del Pilar.

Lakeside Presbyterian

For the third session of Pastor Ross Arnold’s “Return to Narnia” sermon series, he’s examining “The Horse and His Boy,” a story of escape from slavery and oppression. But, just under the surface of this story are inspired examples of the major principles of the Christian faith. As Arnold guides the congregation to look at this children’s story of a journey by two unlikely heroes and their talking horses, they also learn what it means to hear and respond to God’s call.

Following the 10 a.m. worship service on Sunday, September 21, the congregation will gather in the garden for refreshments and fellowship. Lakeside Presbyterian Church is mountainside on the Carretera in Riberas del Pilar just west of S&S Auto. Watch for the LPC sign: “You have family at Lakeside!”

San Andres English Mass

Rev. Basil G. Royston, D. Min, returns to present a homily entitled, “The Generous Love of God,” during the 9 a.m. English Mass on Sunday, September 21 in the Ajijic Parish church.

“The love of God cannot be measured by any human standard,” says Royston. “It is incalculable. By human reckoning it must even appear foolish. What sensible employer would behave like the man in the Gospel parable? We see a reflection of that love in St. Paul’s dilemma. He loved so much that he could not decide whether it was better to live or to die.”

The congregation continues to accumulate small necessities for the U.S. prisoners held in the Guadalajara prison. These small bars of soap, bottles of shampoo, magazines, books, toilet paper and other tiny gifts mean a great deal to those who are incarcerated and have nothing at all.

The Little Chapel

The Little Chapel by the Lake will enjoy a 10:45 a.m. refreshment period with coffee and sweets with Christ Church Lakeside. The worship service begins at 11:15 a.m. when the title of the message presented by Rev. Gene Raymer will be, “You Started It!”

Raymer, who delights in off-the-wall titles for sermons, says: “Wonderful things happen when we pray. But nothing happens until we start that chain of events into motion.”

Following the service, members will adjourn for food and fellowship at Restaurant La Bodega in Ajijic. The Little Chapel by the Lake is an interdenominational congregation.

The church is on the mountain side of the Carretera just east of the golf course in Chula Vista.
